Battered by wind and rain shorelines of beaches are affected the most, sand is moved by tides, storms, wind and everything in its path, always changing the appearance of the landscape.  Trees close to the shore can withstand this relentless onslaught but eventually they too succumb. It’s hard to say what happened here whether a fire helped the demise of the trees but they remain defiant and refuse to lay down.
