Street Mechanics
Kathmandu NEPAL
Square, Aspect 1:1
Captured with Digital Camera
Two mechanics, likely brothers, work diligently on motorcycles in their small, cramped workshop. The shop is tight, with just enough room to work on one bike under shelter, while the others are repaired outside on the street. A man, probably the owner of one of the bikes, watches close by. He seems calm and unhurried, as if the repairs are no cause for stress.
A small boy, his face the only part visible behind a scooter, stands near one of the mechanics. He could be helping or simply causing mischief. As he notices me, he flashes a mischievous grin and raises his middle finger—whether it’s playful or a sign of defiance remains unclear. This scene encapsulates a typical day for these hardworking individuals, laboring in the shadows of their unpretentious workshop, doing what it takes to make ends meet.
