The Crossing

The Himalayas  NEPAL
Rectangle, Aspect 1:1.5
Captured with Digital Camera

Two trekkers cautiously start crossing the suspension bridge over the fast-flowing Dudh Koshi River. Though the bridge is solid enough although those uneasy with heights can find it scary and nerve-wracking as it sways and bounces, made worse by others on the bridge. The river roars below, sounding angry, while the wind channels through the valley, making the crossing feel unsteady. The thick wire ropes serve as handrails, and strong gusts threaten to blow hats off. Steep, forested hillsides, dotted with trees and moss, surround them, with the muted colors of rocks and foliage contrasting sharply against the rushing water below.
